چکیده
Abstract Several sites located between Road No.28 and Akitsu River in downtown Mashiki were liquefied during the mainshock of 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. According to building damage survey results, only a few buildings damaged areas proximate River, where liquefaction occurred, however, serious occurred neighboring regions. Therefore, effect soil on strong ground motions should be ascertained. Moreover, distribution visible invisible is required estimated as well. In this study, depth groundwater level was studied, which decreased from 14 0 m northeast southwest. Thereafter, nonlinearities shallow layers at four borehole drilling identified experimental data using Ramberg–Osgood relationship. Subsequently, dynamic nonlinear effective stress analysis one-dimensional column performed 592 seismological bedrock surface estimate mainshock. First, by corresponded observed Kik-net KMMH16. Second, nonlinearity considerably entire target area especially southern Mashiki, PGV similar after Furthermore, site whereas certain invisible-liquefaction north middle area.

The 2016 Kumamoto earthquake sequence
Beginning in April 2016, a series of shallow, moderate to large earthquakes with associated strong aftershocks struck the Kumamoto area of Kyushu, SW Japan. An Mj 7.3 mainshock occurred on 16 April 2016, close to the epicenter of an Mj 6.5 foreshock that occurred about 28 hours earlier. The intense seismicity released the accumulated elastic energy by right-lateral strike slip, mainly along two...

This paper presents a parallel nonlinear finite element program, ParCYCLIC, which is designed for the analysis of cyclic seismically-induced liquefaction problems. Key elements of the computational strategy employed in ParCYCLIC include the deployment of an automatic domain decomposer, the use of the multilevel nested dissection algorithm for the ordering of finite element nodes, and the develo...
متن کاملEarthquakes in Oita triggered by the 2016 M7.3 Kumamoto earthquake
During the passage of the seismic waves from the M7.3 Kumamoto, Kyushu, earthquake on April 16, 2016, a M5.7 [semiofficial value estimated by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA)] event occurred in the central part of Oita prefecture, approximately 80 km far away from the mainshock. Although there have been a number of reports that M < 5 earthquakes were remotely triggered during the passage o...
متن کاملGeomorphic features of surface ruptures associated with the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake in and around the downtown of Kumamoto City, and implications on triggered slip along active faults
The ~30-km-long surface ruptures associated with the Mw 7.0 (Mj 7.3) earthquake at 01:25 JST on April 16 in Kumamoto Prefecture appeared along the previously mapped ~100-km-long active fault called the Futagawa-Hinagu fault zone (FHFZ). The surface ruptures appeared to have extended further west out of the main FHFZ into the Kumamoto Plain. Although InSAR analysis by Geospatial Information Auth...
متن کاملGroundwater helium anomaly reflects strain change during the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake in Southwest Japan
Geochemical monitoring of groundwater and soil gas emission pointed out precursor and/or coseismic anomalies of noble gases associated with earthquakes, but there was lack of plausible physico-chemical basis. A laboratory experiment of rock fracturing and noble gas emission was conducted, but there is no quantitative connection between the laboratory results and observation in field. We report ...
